News P+S TECHNIK shows SI-3D Stereo Camera System including SI-3D Field Recorder (23/8/2010) Digital Capturing Products: Hall 11 - Booth No. 11.E28 SI-3D Stereo Camera System including SI-3D Field Recorder The SI-3D system uses two SI-2K Mini cameras offering filmmakers built-in tools for checking and adjusting camera alignment and parallax shift between the two views. All of the controls are accessible through a simple touch-screen interface. The stereo data is processed in one system, eliminating the need for a separate stereo processor to mix the two signals for a stereo display. Features SI-3D Stereo Camera System - 2K DCI & HD RAW Stereo Recording & Playback The brand new 3D Field Recorder from P+S TECHNIK is capable of recording, monitoring and playback of stereoscopic 3D footage. The prototype of the 3D Field Recorder features an Intel Quadcore CPU, removable RAID-SSD, a 8” touchscreen monitor as well as HD-SDI output. There’s also an analogue video output for local monitoring of the User Interface Screen. Two battery V-Mounts make changing the battery during field operations possible. The system is especially prepared to run the approved SI-3D software. Features SI-3D Field Recorder: - 8“ Touchscreen Monitor "The SI-3D camera system streamlines the entire stereo-3D content acquisition and post production process. Combining two cameras into a single control, processing and recording platform enables shooting and instant playback like a traditional 2D camera with the added tools needed on-set to analyze and adjust the lighting, color, flip orientation and stereo depth effects. In post, a unified stereo file plus associated metadata can be immediately graded for dailies, edited, and viewed in either 2D or 3D," said Ari Presler, CEO of Silicon Imaging. “With the SI-3D, all you do is point the camera, shoot, edit, and then do your 3D grading. This camera makes it all one streamlined process.” NOTE: The most important new features are already working with the pre-release version available from now on. All of the new features will be enabled until Q4 2010. SI-2K V2.0 Cinema Camera System The new SI-2K V2.0 system combines improvements in the SI-2K’s firmware and software to deliver up to 11-stops of dynamic range, 12-bit log processing, an IRIDAS color-managed pipeline, improved sensitivity, 360-Shutter modes, ambient timecode integration and uncompressed CineformRAW Quicktime recording to 2.5” Solid State Drives. The industry support for the SI-2K post production is enormous. The QuickTime files can be instantly edited in Apple’s Final Cut or imported into AVID with the ALE and metadata generated in-camera. Besides Apple and AVID the SI-2K is also supported and integrated in Quantel, Adobe, DVS, Digital Vision, Gluetools, IRIDAS, and there are more on the way. Among the new key features of the SI-2K V2.0 are: - 12-Bit CineformRAW Quicktime Codec NOTE: The most important new features are already working with the pre-release version available from now on. All of the new features will be enabled until Q4 2010. Freestyle Rig The new Freestyle Rig which prototype was introduced at last year’s IBC is now in serial production and very successful around the globe. It is offering the only professional solution for 'Stereo 3D in motion' by opening the realms of camera movement for stereoscopic imagery. By using patented Carbon Formula One proven technology the best combination of load capacity, stability, form and weight was achieved. The structural parts made of carbon fibre provide not only characteristics perfectly adapted for Formula One, but also especially for Steadicam and for shoulder applications. A range of ergonomic mounting accessories prepare this rig for shoulder, crane and dolly use. Key features: - Universal mount for commercially available Steadicam systems Designed for constant equilibration, the rig always keeps camera weights in perfect balance when wireless adjusting the stereo base. Integrated motors for stereo base and convergence adjustment optimize weight and are compatible with available wireless remote control systems. A wide range of professional lenses and cameras up to 7 kg per camera setup can be carried by the Freestyle Rig. The Freestyle Rig can be seen in different setups at the booths of all major camera manufacturers (Canon, JVC, Panasonic, Sony…) and at the P+S TECHNIK booth, of course. WEISSCAM HS-2 MKII We are pleased to announce that the worldwide approved standalone multi-purpose camera WEISSCAM HS-2 now includes new features and functions to enhance creativity on set. These new features transform the WEISSCAM HS-2 to the WEISSCAM HS-2 MK II: - Optimized Image Quality Further new features are the extended memory of 36GB, which allows extended recording time, and the optimized electronic viewfinder featuring an integrated DVI interface. Of course the new WEISSCAM HS-2 MK II is compatible with all 35mm camera lenses and accessories. 16Digital SR Mag This year P+S TECHNIK takes a great leap forward in the digital revolution: The 16Digital SR Mag is going to bridge the gap between both the film and digital worlds. The 16Digital SR Mag is designed for documentaries, independent feature film production, and especially interesting for film universities and rentals! The 16Digital SR Mag CMOS Sensor produces cinema-quality with a 2/3” image sensor in full native HD resolution for 10-bit RAW and 4:2:2 High Definition recording in CineForm Format. Exceptional pictures meet flexible workflow simplicity! Features - Film & Digital This 16Digital Mag camera for Film & TV provides uniqueness due to: “The migration from film to digital is an important challenge for our customers. P+S TECHNIK faces this challenge and combines innovative steps forward in Digital Film and High Definition. No other camera model on the market gives you the freedom to shoot and capture Digital Film, High Definition and analogue film”, said Michael Erkelenz, Manager Business Unit Digital Capturing at P+S TECHNIK. SteadyFrame Universal Format Scanner The SteadyFrame Universal Format Film Scanner is a new state-of-the-art digital film scanner for scanning great quantities of 16 mm and 35 mm film stock in short time at a high quality without harming the film material. As an Archive Film Scanner, the SteadyFrame is build to handle great quantities at high quality. It is designed to operate cost effectively with low maintenance. The film transport system allows for an easy and quick exchange between formats. The very gentle sprocket and pin registration free transport system and the excellent image stability guarantied by the software based PRS™ (Perforation Recognition System) are some of the key features. The replacement of mechanical image stabilisation modules with software based pattern recognition algorithms provides several important advantages: Careful handling of archive film through the whole process, the handling of different perforation patterns (3perf, 2perf), perforation types and pitches (e.g. BH, KS, CS1870) and film stocks (positive, negative and intermediate) on any base i.e. Nitrate, Cellulose Acetate Base etc. The steadiness is absolutely on par with any pin-registered scanner. The advantage is being able to scan even heavily shrunken, brittled or warped film, and with perforations that do not allow to be scanned with pin registration. The graphical user interface and the intuitive design make it easy to quickly understand how to operate this tool. Additional important features and tools include: The modular concept allows flexibility in installation and upgrade possibilites. P+S TECHNIK keeps developing new features, tools and modules that can be added to existing units of the SteadyFrame Universal Format Film Scanner. Key Features - Gentle Handling of Film Material
