News Quantel sQ Load boosts file-based workflow (22/9/2009) New development gives fast access to media from file-based acquisition formats At IBC 2009 Quantel introduced sQ Load, a brand new application for its sQ server News and Sports production systems. sQ Load dramatically enhances and simplifies file-based workflows which are rapidly becoming the norm in broadcast production. sQ Load provides fast, central ingest of XDCAM HD, P2 and other file-based acquisition media. sQ Load allows operators to choose anything from a complete disk to a single shot for ingest. Full renaming facilities allow vital metadata to be added at the ingest stage. This is particularly useful to broadcasters as metadata is often absent when media arrives from the field. The sQ system generates Low Bit Rate (browse quality) media as the High Bit Rate file is being imported by sQ Load. This means that the new material is available to everyone on all sQ desktop and craft editing workstations even while it is being ingested. “In developing sQ Load, our objective was to give broadcasters immediate access to all their file-based acquisition media. sQ systems have the best workflow for video in the world, and sQ Load now means they also have the best file-based workflow too,” said Steve Owen, Quantel Director of Marketing. “With sQ Load great file-based workflow is just so easy.” sQ Load was demonstrated at IBC showing fast central ingest of XDCAM HD material into sQ server systems. sQ Load is shipping now.
