News Sony adds 15-inch and 24-inch displays to LUMA line of LCD professional monitors (21/5/2009) Sony's family of LUMA(r) professional LCD displays now includes two new widescreen models, a 15- and a 24-inch version (viewable areas, measured diagonally). The new multi-format monitors offer many of the same design elements and functionality found in previous LUMA series, with the addition of several new capabilities. The LMD-2451W model, a successor to the LMD-2450W, incorporates a wide CCFL back-light that provides a wide color gamut and high-fidelity color reproduction. The 24-inch monitor is 3G-SDI ready with the use of the BKM-250TG option board. It delivers WUXGA (1920 x 1200) resolution with wide viewing angles and comes equipped with composite, Y/C, component, DVI-D and HD15 inputs. Optional input boards are available for SDI, HD-SDI and 3G SDI. The LMD-2451W display has 1080/60P and 50P 4:2:2 10-bit capability for 3G. An improved wave form monitor increases versatility in the field, offering the ability to support multiple color standards, including SMPTE-C, EBU, and ITU-R709. The monitor has a lip sync function to synchronize audio with video images according to the monitor's I/P mode setting (inter-field, field merge line doubler). DVI capability is also available as an option for side-by-side or picture-in-picture use. It features Sony's ChromaTRU(tm) color processing. This technology compensates for variations in LCD color levels commonly caused by differences in chromaticity coordinates, color temperature and gamma curves. The technology allows each model in this series to closely color-match not only other LUMA monitors but also the SMPTE-C, EBU or ITU-BT709 color standards traditionally used in CRT models. LMD-1530 15-inch LCD Display The LMD-1530W 15-inch display is designed for entry-level HD video production applications. The WXGA (1280 x 768 resolution) monitor accepts multiple sources including composite, Y/C, component and HDMI inputs. It is SD-SDI ready with the addition of the BKM-320D input module. The new monitors are both planned to be available in June, at suggested list prices of $4,795 for the LMD-2451W and $1,295 for the LMD-1530W.
