News Merging Technologies Announces Dolby E Worklow for Pyramix (13/5/2009) Minnetonka Audio's Dolby E Decoder/Encoder Now Runs In Real Time On Pyramix Users of Merging Technologies' Pyramix workstation may now work directly with Dolby E-encoded audio files, thanks to the release of updated VST plug-in versions of Minnetonka Audio's SurCode for Dolby E encoder and decoder software. Merging staff conducted one-on-one demonstrations of the enhanced workflow for Dolby E in Pyramix during this year's European AES show. Using the VST version of Minnetonka's SurCode for Dolby E Encoder, Pyramix owners may now encode Dolby E audio files directly from a multichannel Pyramix session. Similarly, the SurCode for Dolby E Decoder VST plug-in may be used directly on the Pyramix project timeline to decode a two-channel Dolby E file into multichannel surround audio information. Decoding can even be carried out in real time on a live input (analogue, AES-EBU, TDIF, ADAT or MADI) if required. Full management of Dolby E metadata is available to Pyramix through the Minnetonka plug-ins, including manual metadata entry, and metadata may be imported from XML files or WAV files containing a DBMD chunk. These settings can be saved as plug-in template presets for recall and further use. SurCode for Dolby E Encoder and SurCode for Dolby E Decoder normally retail separately for €2,669 each, and are also available as a bundle for €4579, but both are being offered at a special bundle price of €3429 from authorised Merging dealers for a limited time. "SurCode for Dolby E is the obvious choice for Pyramix users wishing to use or output Dolby E files," says Claude Cellier, President of Merging Technologies. "We are confident this development will prove very popular with our broadcast customers."
