Quantel announces availability of Imagica's Primatte V4 keying technology for Pablo, iQ, eQ and QEffects (21/11/2008)

Quantel today announced that the latest version of Imagica's Primatte keyer is now available to users of Quantel iQ, eQ and Pablo systems. The Primatte keyer has just been nominated for an Academy Award for Scientific and Technical excellence.

Primatte V4 is faster, easier to use than its predecessor, and includes many new features that make it even easier to produce great-looking keys. "The Primatte keyer from Imagica is one of the most popular plug-ins available on Quantel eQ, iQ and Pablo systems," said Steve Owen, Quantel Director of Marketing. "Now Imagica and VDS have teamed up with Quantel to make the latest and greatest Primatte V4 available to Quantel users."

New features in Primatte V4 include:

* Faster processing - quicker results
* Improved spill, matte and detail sampling tools - finer control; better keys
* Floating point/integer calculations - improved accuracy and speed
* Auto-compute - for quick automatic keys
* New keyer viewing tools - easier, more confident operation
* Defocus replacement spill suppression mode - using background to set colors
* Inward defocus tool - soften the inside only of mattes
* Median picking - filter out noisy pixels
* Degrain tools - accommodate film grain noise
* New matte extractions - faster processing for well-shot clips

World-renowned DI house, Park Road Post Production in New Zealand, owner of two Pablo systems, is one of the first companies to adopt Primatte V4. "It's brilliant," says Adam Scott, Park Road's Head of Digital Intermediate. "And even though it's a plug-in, it's just another part of the Pablo toolset that means I don't have to go outside the box for a solution. It's just there, waiting, exactly when I need it."

Primatte V4 is available now as an upgrade to all existing Quantel Pablo, eQ, iQ and QEffects users running V4 software, and as an option on all new systems.
