The hands-on tour is designed for professionals who were not able to attend the IBC 2008 show and for those looking for more detailed information on these exciting new products. Tour sites will be hosted by authorized resellers. With an emphasis on supporting file-based environments, these new content creation products, which speed up the production process and bring a fast return on investment, were introduced at the recent IBC convention in Amsterdam. Over the next few months, the Thomson Editing Tour will travel internationally to over 100 cities, including: Brussels, Casablanca, Hong Kong, Istanbul, London, Moscow, Munich, Mumbai, Melbourne, Naples, Paris, Riyadh, Singapore and many more. 2008 European and Middle East locations/dates include: Munich (10/24), Naples (11/4), Berlin (11/12), Madrid (11/18), Belgrade (11/21), Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (11/24), Vienna (11/28) and Casablanca, Morocco (12/4). Other dates and locations for the first quarter of 2009 will be announced soon. The new EDIUS version 5 editing software brings new functionality and a number of tapeless workflow improvements. It comes bundled with over $1,000 worth of third-party plug-ins and software, and offers the industry's first true end-to-end native workflow using the emerging JPEG 2000 compression format. The HDSTORM is a PCI Express board with HDMI-based input/output capability and the popular Canopus HQ hardware codec built-in. HDSTORM, which includes the latest version of EDIUS nonlinear editing software (V5), helps users make the transition from standard-definition (SD) to high-definition (HD) file-based production in a fast, flexible and highly cost-effective way. An optional I/O bay provides additional HDMI input/output as well as analog video and audio. professional.grassvalley.com/editingtour08
