News Ikegami presents the GFSeries Flash-Memory Tapeless System and more at IBC 2008 (9/9/2008) Tapeless, Flash-Based, Workflow-Efficient HD Production, Multi-Format Image Capture and Display, and Affordability Breakthroughs Deliver Increased Value and Performance IBC 2008, RAI Centre in Amsterdam, BOOTH 11.A31, September 12-16, 2008: GFSERIES Ikegami, which introduced the industry's first tapeless camcorder at NAB 1995, will debut its revolutionary Flash-based GFSERIES system at IBC 2008 in response to industry demand for a tapeless HD/SD solution. Developed in cooperation with Toshiba (a world leader in Flash memory), the GFSERIES system includes the GFCAM HDS-V10 tapeless camcorder, the GFSTATION GFS-V10 Flash Memory recorder, and the GFPAK high-capacity Flash media to record two hours of HD video with 50Mbps at 64GB memory. The GFSERIES tapeless HD/SD system-which features an open-codec HD/SD architecture, proxy video, and metadata convenience-leverages the increasing integration of IT networking in the broadcast industry and delivers unprecedented file-based workflow efficiencies extending from digital video capture, to non-linear editing, to content delivery. HDS-V10 is an advanced yet affordable three-CCD model providing 1080i or 720p HDTV format support, multiple digital recording modes, and such advanced features as Retro Loop recording so videographers never miss a shot. The GFS-V10 is a Flash-based central video management and recording system with extensive connectivity that even includes a gigabit network port. Both the GFCAM and GFSTATION use GFPAK media, a removable Flash memory cartridge with up to 64GB capacity and a convenient USB port for access to file-based video even when GFPAK is not installed in either the camcorder or the deck. Ikegami is completing the product line with GFSTATION PORTABLE, a portable version of GFSTATION, but without build-in memory. GFPLAYER is a multi format player for field and Obvan. GFADAPTER is designed for the connection with NLE and GF MEDIA Manager software via SATA. The advanced network connectivity of all GFSERIES system components creates the industries newest, highly efficient, highly productive, and affordable tapeless environment, which is engineered to meet the demands of broadcast news and digital media professionals. Ikegami will demonstrate the GFSERIES system's totally tapeless workflow at IBC 2008, starting with GFCAM HDS-V10 acquisition and finishing with archiving that uses advanced new third-party holographic technology. HD Cameras Ikegami's decades of leadership and innovation in HD camera technology will be further evidenced at IBC 2008 with the display of its HDK-79/790EXIII and HDK-727/727P HDTV studio cameras. Products the broadcast industry has been demanding, the HDK-79/790EXIII employees 2/3-inch 2.3 million pixel AIT CCDs, and the native 720p HDK-727/727P employees 2/3-inch 1.0 million pixel IT CCDs. Both provide 14-bit A/D converters, and Ikegami's Chip C4 advanced digital signal processing ASIC to offer exceptionally quiet pictures with 60dB SNR (in HD) (HDK727/727P = 58dB) to meet the requirements of both HDTV and SDTV production. The cameras include an integrated fiber camera cable system for perfect signal transmission to the fully equipped CCU-890 or to the compact and cost effective BS-89 base station. With its front and rear plug-in modular design, the BS-89 can be ordered with just the right compliment of signal interfaces required. Ikegami's leadership in camera technology has long made the brand a favourite in sports and mobile production, in TV studios, and for ENG applications. New and established HD and SD cameras being shown at IBC 2008 include: portable models, companion systems that convert from portable to studio/field use with a System Expander kit, and POV (point-of-view) "box" cameras for goal-post, airborne, and other specialized applications. Ikegami's HDL-51 series one-piece end-to-end digital POV cameras also employ newly developed 2.5 Mega-pixel CMOS sensors for native multi-format HD operation, including 1080/50i and 720/50p directly from the camera head. The HDL-51 supports native 1080/23.98p format operation as well. The HDL-F51, meanwhile, is designed to meet the size and signal-transportation requirements for gyro-stabilized aerial camera mounts. Wireless and compact Ikegami is introducing its wireless HD camera system with Ikegami Studio/EFP cameras HDK-79EXIII and HDK-727P for wireless broadcast transmission. The transmitter is integrated in the compact camera housing. It will give the photographer total freedom by operating the camera and transmitting the video and audio signals in broadcast quality to the control room. The system covers three main frequency ranges that are 2GHz, 3GHz and 6GHz. A 2-way diversity and a 6-way diversity receiver will be available. The coding system is MPEG2 and the latency currently is 2 frames (80ms). The distance between transmitter and receiver depends on the type of antenna and can be up to 500 meter. In addition of the camera picture, camera control signal and tally signal will be transmitted. With the standard OCP, user has total operation control, same as for studio/OB cameras. The wireless system is a perfect completition for studio and field production. LCD HD Monitors Long known as a premier manufacturer of broadcast video monitors, Ikegami's IBC 2008 exhibit will include the company's line of reference-grade multi-format LCD HDTV displays. Ikegami's growing line of multi-format colour LCD HDTV/SDTV monitors provide a space-saving, compact solution for the full range of broadcast and professional applications, such as mobile production vehicles and studio control rooms. At IBC 2008 Ikegami will unveil the HLM-2450WR, a 24-inch HD/SD multi-format color monitor that integrates a revolutionary new LCD widescreen panel featuring full HD resolution of 1920x1200 pixel and a wide viewing angle of 178 degree H/V. 3G-HD-SDI input will be available as an option. Ikegami will also display HLM-1711WR, a 17-inch HD/SD multi-format color monitor that integrates a new LCD panel featuring a significantly improved critical viewing angle. The new HLM-1711WR also provides improved rendition of flesh tones and other colors that demand critical evaluation in broadcast television and professional video studios. Another Ikegami IBC 2008 video-monitor introduction is the 9-inch HLM-920WR/WP multi-format HD/SD LCD with 16 x 9 aspect ratio to maximize space utilization in today's HD production applications. The HLM-920WP model is designed for portable use with Handle, Battery Bracket and 12DC input.
