DVS doubles its DVS-SAN performance with 8-Gbit Fibre Channel technology (28/8/2008)

At this year's IBC, DVS unveils a DVS-SAN based on 8-Gbit Fibre Channel technology. This technology effectively doubles the performance of the custom storage solution. The DVS-SAN management tool provides DVS customers with a detailed overview of the configuration, size and workload of their storage environment.

DVS Digital Video Systems AG presents an 8-Gbit Fibre Channel DVS-SAN at stand 7.E21. This new central storage standard from DVS doubles the data rates and increases the cost-effectiveness. Thanks to the open design of the DVS-SAN, all connected clients can directly access film and video data on the DVS-SAN, without the need for special transfer software.

The DVS-SAN management tool, introduced in summer 2008, provides users with a perfect overview of the performance of their central storage system. With its permanent monitoring, the tool provides reliable information on the real-time data rates, configuration and performance of all clients. Overloaded connections and network congestion are detected early enough to enable proactive preventative measures.

The entire DVS-SAN environment is displayed using a hierarchical tree structure and provides administrators with a detailed overview of the structure of their central storage. This includes the DVS clients as well as systems from third-party manufacturers. System faults can be detected and circumvented at an early stage by means of the automatic information management.

With Spycer(r) for DVS-SAN, the DVS storage solution includes a powerful application for effective content management. The software allows users to copy and defragment data at high speeds and offers a feature set specially tailored to the needs of post production professionals working with high-resolution film and video data. Thanks to the integrated scheduler, complex processes can be performed at night or over the weekend.
