News Marquis Demonstrates Medway Integration between Microsoft Interactive Media Manager and Avid's Media Composer (22/4/2008) Marquis Broadcast, specialist in broadcast workflow studies and software integration solutions is featuring the Medway Media Highway as part of Microsoft's Interactive Media Manager (IMM) demonstration at NAB 2008. Medway will be used to provide tight integration for transference of edit decision lists (EDLs) and fast media file transfers between IMM's Microsoft SilverLight-Based RoughCut Editor and Avid's Media Composer editing systems. IMM is a collaborative media management solution that extends Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 for media and entertainment companies, helping them to create an easily accessible end-to-end content production system. Marquis' Medway Media Highway system provides seamless integration of media files and EDLs between all post-production and broadcasting systems irrespective of hardware and software platforms. At NAB 2008, the Microsoft demonstration of IMM will use Medway to showcase media transfers using true IMM-generated EDLs as a set of instructions to move media from central storage to a Media Composer for professional editing. The media and its associated metadata will be packaged and formatted as appropriate to provide fast and seamless file transfers enabling media to be available instantly as a sequence to be loaded in the editing bay. All media, edit decisions and additional metadata will be transferred in a single action. By using Medway as the media highway, users have the freedom to use 'best of breed' editing systems, for example, Avid, Final Cut Pro or Premier, with confidence that media will flow seamlessly with integrity of metadata throughout the entire workflow in and outside of the editing bay. Microsoft's IMM Solution and Partners Microsoft is working with top-tier, media-focused industry partners to deliver and extend IMM. The end result is a tailored, enterprise solution that helps reduce operational costs and helps companies to respond quickly to new business opportunities. With an open, standards-based architecture, Microsoft IMM provides a highly extensible, highly scalable platform that supports custom development on top of existing investments. IMM integrates with messaging clients, such as Microsoft Office Outlook 2007, to push tasks and forms directly to people's inbox, so that they can quickly move through review and approval processes, for example. Behind the scenes IMM provides powerful tools for quickly building complex workflows and monitoring the performance and status of those workflows.
