VDS unveils ProStor and Twister PaintStation HD integrated HD graphics and playout system (27/3/2008)

VDS, a leading developer of broadcast automation software, content design applications and plug-in products, will unveil the NEW ProStor & Twister PaintStation HD at NAB 2008.

ProStor is VDS' new cost-effective, HD/SD-switchable still and clip store system that provides comprehensive organizational and database management tools in an easy to operate multi-channel playout device. The system is designed for highly-demanding environments such as live and master control rooms, remote production trucks, news studios and rental providers. Stills, clips and audio files can be easily combined in "scenes", that can be added to playlists with a simple drag n' drop. The stills can be created from a wide range of easily-imported standard graphics formats. Search and sorting tools maximize efficiency and accessibility to graphics assets. The ProStor features user-selectable multiple playlist creation for playout in HD or SD. Control can be manual or through multiple external controls.

ProStor is now fully integrated with VDS' Twister HD PaintStation, providing a complete graphics creation, templating, and playout solution. Twister operators can now browse images and save and recall directly to and from the ProStor with simple drag n' drop operations. This includes the ability to browse, update and create metadata. ProStor is available as one or two-channel 32-bit configurations, each channel outputting video and key. The system can simultaneously run graphics, clips, audio files and "scenes" on the same video channel, thus reducing cost while increasing functionality.

An off-line version of ProStor is also available and will run on a standard PC. This is a low cost option to manage the database and create and edit playlists. The ProStor networked operation allows collaborative, simultaneous work of multiple users on a centralized database.

The Twister PaintStation HD is a complete paint, graphic content creation, and workflow utility application designed specifically for broadcasters. Twister combines full feature graphic design tools with custom browser utilities which solve many typical workflow issues that broadcasters face daily. The Twister's browser is rich with interoperability features which allow the operator to move content and use files between practically any related broadcast device, regardless whether it is open or proprietary in nature, or if it is local or remote. The Twister PaintStation HD provides high quality SD/HD frame grab and output, along with the ability to key and preview live graphics (real-time paint) over incoming video. This also includes the ability to grab video from canvas directly to layers. Twister can also switch instantly between HD and SD operating modes at the click of a button. Other new V9 features include full integration with ProStor, selectable grouping/ungrouping, improved masking/layer mask tools, more dynamic features and additional UI enhancements. It is now easier than ever to create reusable daily templates in SD or HD. Content distribution is a breeze, as Twister has been infused with many broadcast-friendly features such as R/W Photoshop layers and direct connection/file support for most industry-standard devices such as Chyron, Aprisa, Pinnacle, Avid, ORAD, Quantel and VDS' ProStor.
