SGL introduces FlashBox and FlashTurbo Accelerator for Avid ISIS (11/3/2008)

Software Generation Ltd (SGL), a leading provider of content archive and storage management software for media and entertainment, has today introduced two new major products to the Middle East broadcast community at CABSAT 2008. FlashBox, SGL's new, all-in-one archive solution and FlashTurbo Accelerator for Avid ISIS make their world debut, today at the show on the Avid booth (ZE-11 in the Zabeel Hall) and Pro Media International booth (UK Pavilion F2-1).

SGL is also announcing Pro Media International as a new partner in the Middle East. Pro Media International has recently opened a new office in the Dubai Silicon Oasis on Emirates Road.

Based on SGL's FlashNet content archive and storage management software, and best of breed hardware, FlashBox provides a number of technology and business benefits including, scalable disk and tape storage, which starts with a 4TB disk archive, a single LTO4 tape drive and 10 x 800GB tape slots, providing 12TB of entry-level storage.

FlashBox will interface to all current control systems including the Avid Interplay non-linear workflow engine and the Pro-Bel Morpheus automation and media management system. FlashBox will assist a number of customers with archive requirements where a conventional infrastructure is cost prohibitive, these include post production facilities, regional broadcasters and individual broadcast departments such as news or sports. FlashBox ships with ALL hardware, software, installation, training and 12 months support.

Flashbox includes a number of features:

Providing a significant increase in data transfer rates, SGL's FlashTurbo Accelerator allows direct connection with Avid's ISIS Media Network, which has a distributed and open architecture that supports both Avid and non-Avid clients. FlashTurbo Accelerator reduces the hardware and software infrastructure required in Interplay archive configurations, providing performance, resilience and cost of ownership benefits.
