EVS Showcases Third Party Integration with XFile[2] storage platform and Xfile software (2/10/2007)

With its XFile[2] storage platform combined with Xfile software, leading broadcast technology supplier EVS has developed a reliable gateway between an EVS network and third-party tools, which they will showcase at IBC 2007.

"Integration with leading third-party systems and compliance with open industry standards are at the heart of what we do," says Marianne Lothaire, Product Manager at EVS. "By using the XFile[2] storage platform and Xfile software, users have a down-to-earth solution they can trust."

Seamlessly linking live ingest and near-live production on the EVS XT[2] server with third-party studio systems for such tasks as post production and archiving, the XFile solutions virtually guarantees that no valuable footage will be lost.

Clips created on the XT[2] network from various EVS applications are selected and directly transferred through the Xfile software gateway via a high speed Gigabit Ethernet network to Avid storage.

The Avid Media Manager or Interplay Access Server then retrieves the transferred files, and links them to the appropriate Avid Media Composer bin. Clipped content is immediately available to the editor, even while the transfer is still in progress.

Live recording feeds on the XT[2] can be streamed to post production for direct editing, or archived onto XFile[2] removable hard disk drives.

As files are created in EVS MXF format (encoded to the IMX-D10 or Avid DNxHD(r) codec as appropriate), content can either be plugged into any EVS XFile[2] or EVS XStore[2] storage platform, or simply imported directly into post production via a USB connector. Passing through the same Xfile software, the EVS MXF file can then be manually or automatically restored on an EVS XT[2] server for immediate play-out.
