Lightworks Ships Softworks Version 1.1 (7/11/2006)

Following its successful launch at IBC 2006 Lightworks has today announced the release of Softworks Version1.1. Softworks is the first editing solution from Lightworks to be sold as a software only package. Softworks has all the editing tools of the leading Lightworks Alacrity MR without the support for Video and Audio I/O hardware.

Material and projects can be exchanged or shared with Alacrity, and other editing systems, in a wide range of formats including DV25, mpeg2, uncompressed, and omf. Softworks was designed to integrate transparently into advanced network technologies like our Sharknet, which allows for more efficient sharing of projects and media over Gigabit Ethernet and Fibre channel networks. Today's high bandwidth portable storage can also be used to make your Lightworks editing suite portable enough to fit into your laptop bag.

Softworks can be installed on Windows XP PC systems and Dual core or dual processor are recommended. Now Lightworks editors can set up their favourite editing tools on a laptop with or without a Lightworks Console for greater flexibility and mobility. Softworks brings the Lightworks user interface to a new lower cost environment but maintains the outstanding flexibility, productivity, performance and toolset of previous Lightworks offerings. The same smooth jogging and scrubbing Lightworks editors love, including the smooth 'Analogue Audio' output both forwards and backwards is maintained.

Softworks ships in two versions, the fully featured Softworks, or the simpler Softworks LE.
