News Blackmagic Design Updates DeckLink Uncompressed Video Card Features on Mac OS X (13/5/2005) Support for Final Cut Pro HD v5 and capture gamma table features added for improved DI feature film workflow Blackmagic Design today announced that its DeckLink for Macintosh product now includes full compatibility with Apple's new Final Cut Pro 5 and improvements for DI feature film workflow with new custom capture gamma table support and instant DPX file format support with our new FrameLink utility. Final Cut Pro HD v5 Support With support for the v5.0, DeckLink cards now include support for HDV playback via DeckLink, 12 channels of audio HD capture and playback, mixed media formats in the timeline, and real time effects in HD. Capture Gamma Tables DeckLink's new capture gamma tables feature allows custom gamma tables, and lift, gain, and gamma adjustments to be applied directly to capture video. This allows gamma encoded video, as used in feature film editing, to be removed during the capture process. Users can load custom gamma tables, or use the built in preset gamma tables for Panasonic CineGamma, or gamma tables from other industry-standard cameras. Users can also do color adjustments and correction during capture, and these settings are added to the loaded gamma table, and can be saved and loaded to files. Gamma tables are 10 bit, and fully compatible with Blackmagic Designs HDLink DVI monitoring converter, allowing users to move custom gamma tables around all systems in their facility. FrameLink Blackmagic Design's new DPX utility, FrameLink is included with this software release. FrameLink allows users to instantly open and render DPX files for DI feature film work. Availability DeckLink for Macintosh v5.0 includes all of these new features and will be available from the Blackmagic Design web site at no charge when Final Cut Pro 5 is released. Check www.blackmagic-design.com for download details. Blackmagic DeckLink cards are available now from authorized Blackmagic Design resellers worldwide starting from an amazing US$295 for uncompressed 10 bit 4:2:2.
