News Leitch Previews VelocityX Editing Software at NAB 2005 (11/5/2005) Leitch Technology Corporation (TSX:LTV), a leading provider of SD/HD solutions for professional digital video, is offering visitors to its NAB 2005 booth a preview of VelocityX(tm), Leitch's latest post production non-linear editing software. Sharing the intuitive version 9.x Velocity software interface with Leitch's award-winning hardware-based editing solutions, VelocityQ(tm) and VelocityHD(tm), VelocityX provides the same flexibility and creative control in a software-only NLE. VelocityX is perfect for VelocityQ or VelocityHD customers needing a laptop editor for field editing, or looking to expand their operations with additional low-cost editing seats for offline work or online projects with lower performance requirements. Project file compatibility between all three platforms allows a project to be started on VelocityX, then transferred to VelocityQ or VelocityHD for high-performance finishing, taking advantage of the hardware power of those platforms. Compatibility with VelocityQ and VelocityHD's media file formats makes it easy to exchange both compressed and uncompressed media between VelocityX and its hardware-based siblings, and allows users to move complete projects and media from these solutions to VelocityX for further editing. VelocityX also features flexible format and codec support, including HDV, DV, MPEG-2, MXF and more. "VelocityX gives our VelocityHD and VelocityQ customers a new option for field and offline editing," said Brad Nogar, Leitch vice president and general manager for post production. "Our hardware-based solutions deliver the ultimate in performance and I/O flexibility, and VelocityX is an ideal companion editor for portability, offline, and less intensive work." VelocityX is slated for release in late 2005.
